About Me
I`m a developer living in East Yorkshire. I enjoying learning new technologies and am currently developing using Python, Django, Google App Engine, Google Web Toolkit and Java.
I enjoy attending developer / Linux events when I get the chance. Last year I made it to Google Developer Day at Wembley stadium and for a fourth consecutive year the sole remaining Linux event that is LUG Radio.
I am a long term Linux user having gone through the spectrum of distributions from Mandrake as was, to Debian and finally settling on Ubuntu. I have used Linux and Unix systems extensively for over 10 years having been biten by the bug of Free Software since University.
I hold a 2:1 BSc in Software Engineering from Hull University and have worked on projects from email content filtering to www.bbc.co.uk. Most recently I have been developing in Java for a large video on demand platform.
My current hobby app is a mashup between Google Maps and Last.fm’s Apis. The app is written for Google App Engine and is available from cassandra.appspot.com. I have a healthy interest in twitter and have written a bot Deal Chimp to tweet deals from UK Hot Deal’s RSS feed.
